Regenerate

Date: 15th and 16th October 2010 (10-3pm)

Regenerate is an environmental and conservation volunteering project which aims to create positive change and regenerate a part of Liverpool. It not only helps to create thriving neighbourhoods in Liverpool but also bridges the gap between students and local residents, improving the public’s perception of student’s impact on their community.

The project spans across two days. On 15th October, volunteers will concentrate on regenerating an urban part of the city (Webster road area) and on 16th October, volunteers will concentrate on regenerating a rural part of the city (Smithdown lane park). Activities will include creating a community garden, making and donating hanging baskets to local residents, painting window sills, litter picking, weeding, building bird boxes and tree guards, and tree planting.

It is a collaborative project between Liverpool Guild of Students, Liverpool John Moore’s University, Liverpool Hope University, Liverpool Community College, Liverpool City Council, Riverside, Mencap, and Groundwork Merseyside.

Be part of a movement that regenerates Liverpool little by little. It is a great way of creating positive change in your community, meeting other students and people in Liverpool, learning gardening and painting skills and generally having fun!

Staff will be on site throughout the day to provide training.

If you are interested in taking part in this project, you can either apply directly here or contact Becky Turner on rturner@liverpool.ac.uk or 0151 795 0387.
