• To purchase furniture, fixtures and fittings to enhance the hall environment. It may also be used to purchase sporting and other entertainment equipment and resources for use by the residents.
• To support and/or subsidise day trips and activities of a cultural or entertainment nature outside the halls to encourage students to explore the North West region.
• To support social activities in the hall to create a sense of community spirit and cohesion and provide a situation where students can meet one another in a safe and supportive environment.
• To finance or purchase anything that only benefits a single individual or a small minority of students.
• For events where the principle activity is the consumption of alcohol (for example, a pub golf event would not be acceptable).
• To purchase alcohol in large quantities, to subsidise the cost of alcohol consumption or to encourage excessive drinking or drunkenness by students. It is acceptable to purchase reasonable quantities of alcohol for a social event when it is being consumed as part of a meal or is being offered as a reception drink. Where complimentary alcohol is being offered at an event however this event MUST be ticketed, and there MUST be a price charged for that ticket. A free event cannot offer a complimentary alcoholic drink to those attending.
