► Sustainable Travel
Liverpool Guild of Students and the University of Liverpool encourage staff and students to use sustainable means of travel where possible. Any form of transport can be sustainable:
Public transport
Car sharing
Walking
Cycling - If you do have an old bike and want to make it new again, call into Re-Cycles (located downstairs in the Guild) where they can help you fix it up and get it back on the road!
Electric, hybrid and biodiesel cars (vehicles that keep carbon emissions, and other pollutants, to a minimum)
Sustainable travel is any form of transport that keeps damage to our environment, and therefore the future, to a minimum. The University of Liverpool has a comprehensive travel plan on how to minimise your environmental impact when travelling as well as a new University car share scheme – LivShare.
The LivShare website allows staff to search for potential sharers, view their matches and plan their journeys together using Google maps. Staff from across the campus will be able to log in to the website using their staff MWS ID, as the website forms a safe and secure part of the University system.
There are many benefits to car sharing, from financial benefits of sharing transport and parking costs to social benefits of sharing the journey with a colleague, as well as doing your bit for the environment.
