Campaign

Student Unions are, fundamentally, campaigning organisations. There are other places where students can go and buy stationary and drinks, watch a gig, or socialise – that is not to say the Guild is not a place to do those things, it is! But the single reason for Student Unions existing is to represent and fight for the interests of their members – students!

This means creating vibrant, democratic spaces where students feel they can come and discuss the issues that are affecting them. We are still working out how best to do this, having introduced a new structure of student forums See here. The key thing is that students come and get involved, and are prepared to argue for what they want to see – we want to promote a culture of collective debate and activism, whether that be around academic issues, housing or what you want the Student Union to be saying and doing around local and national politics.
