► Societies
One of the unique things about university life is the opportunity to join activity groups - or societies. These are communities of interest which the Guild helps by funding their activities. So this can range from student theatre, to hobbies, shared interest, politics, faith or your academic subject itself. LGoS splits its activity groups into seven categories, comprising over 157 groups and 4000 students - which is a quater of our membership!
University os a great time to try something new, so why not take a look at what is on offer from our groups and give it a go!
You can join an activity group easily by clicking here and filling in your details in the form and selecting any of the societies in the tab on the form. You can pay at Guild Reception. Easy!
Whatever activity interests you, from enjoying a particular pastime, to changing the world, we aim to support it!

Do you want to make a change to University or social policy? Or raise awareness of issues such as global warming, poverty or sexual health? We can help you make that change by supporting your planning, fundraising and communication.
Whether it’s theatre, musical theatre, dance or live music that is your passion, we can help you bring it to a wider audience with technical, marketing and performance support.
One of the best ways to learn is to come together with other students on your course, or those who simply have an interest in the subject. We’ll help you secure support from your department, engage with your fellow students and organise events.
Many and diverse religions and faiths are represented in our community, and we’ll help you increase your membership, secure facilities, raise awareness and celebrate your faith.
Well over 100 different countries, ethnicities and cultural backgrounds are represented in our community, and we want to celebrate that diversity. Whether it’s raising awareness of history, introducing students to new culinary traditions, sharing the music of your country and more, we’ll support you with facilities, increasing membership and communicating your activity.
How do you use your time? What floats your boat? Whether it’s watching film, kite surfing or throwing yourself down potholes, we know you want to come together with others who are as passionate about it as you are. We can help with communication, facilities, event support and more.
Do you have a passion for journalism, film or broadcasting? The Student Media groups work together to cover the issues, events, sports and activities affecting students.
