LGoS Elections

The Guild is a democratically led organisation, to ensure that we are representative of our members, we hold elections to key posts within the organisation, from President to Course Rep. These elections take place twice a year so that everyone can have a chance of taking a lead at the University of Liverpool. The two election periods are:

Spring Elections

These are the biggest event in our annual calendar (outside Welcome Week of course!) where we elect the leadership of the Guild, electing the full-time posts of President, Deputy President and two Vice-President. We also elect our student trustees, liberation convenors (LGBT, Black, Disabled Students and Women's convenors), student council and sentate representatives.

For most of our elections you can vote online, with the exception of course rep elections, which you vote for within your department.

In March 2010, students at the University of Liverpool will elect the new student leadership of Liverpool Guild of Students (LGoS). A cross-campus vote, hosted online at www.lgos.org, will be held from 11th March- 19th March.
 
The following positions will be contested:
 
  • Student Representative Officer- LGoS President, Deputy President and two Vice Presidents- 1 year salaried, full time posts;
  • Student Trustee- 1- 2 year post undertaken during studies;
  • Liberation Activity Group convenors- 1 year post undertaken during studies:
- Black Students Convenor;
- Women’s Convenor;
- Disabled Students Convenor; and
- Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Trans-LGBT- Convenor.
 
  • General Student Councillor- 1 year post undertaken during studies

A range of materials and events are being coordinated by LGoS to support students in becoming candidates! More information to follow soon.
 
A Candidates’ Handbook will be posted at www.lgos.org/elections on Monday 1st February 2010. Further material and notification of events for students who are considering becoming candidates will be emailed to all students via the LGoS fortnightly ‘all student email’ sent to your University of Liverpool email account!
 
Applications close on Thursday 4th March 2010 at 4.00pm.

The Guild

Hello and welcome to Liverpool Guild of Students!

As a University of Liverpool student, you are automatically one of over 17000 members of the Guild. We are run by 4 elected students, who are supported by staff and volunteers.

The Guild aims to make students lives better, through campaigning with you to make positive change and providing you with a huge range of opportunities to meet other people, gain new skills and have fun.
