The University has identified increasing it’s research performance as one of it’s top strategic priorities, you can read more about it here. Part of this includes improving the research student experience.
LGoS, in conjunction with the Graduate School produces a monthly newsletter to let the PGR community know what’s going on. You can read the first edition here.
Last year saw a huge shake in the University with regards to research, after the results of the Research Assessment Exercise were announced. It resulted in the University proposing to close 3 departments and a huge student campaign as a result. Read the Guild response to the Universities plans here. Thanks to the hard work of the student campaigners and our representative network, students were able to prevent the 3 departments from being closed. This was a fantastic win for the student experience!
LGoS is also working with the University to develop a clear idea of what it would like Research Led Teaching to look like in the institution. We would like to know what it means to you? Please email our Policy & Communications Manager, Alan Roberts (a.roberts@liv.ac.uk) if you have any comments, or ideas that you would like the University to consider. You can read more about what Research Led Teaching is in the Strategic Plan or on various websites.
